Original hand printed artwork
I love the barns around here- lots of make do and mend and not necessarily pretty but doing the job and somehow interesting patchwork vessels. Here with the sheep and a morning pink sky I had to make a print.
I love water and wild swimming. In my dreams, I am nude like this lady!

Linocut printed on Fabriano paper using Caligo Safewash inks. I like swimming in the winter and I wanted this print to look like a winter swim- the water needed to look cold! I am pleased with the wave and the motion and energy in this print even if you don’t fancy a swim!
I wanted to show the friendship I feel wild swimming as part of a group and the relationship between swimmers and the sea. I really enjoy the inclusivity of the wild swimming community. I also wanted to show the feeling of standing on the edge timing the entry around the waves!
There are some buoys moored out in the bay where I swim. They are especially for swimmers and are about 400m out at high tide. Swimming to the buoys becomes the challenge and is addictive with some people wanting to do it every month or in a certain time or a certain number in a season or a year!
Last summer 3 of us decided to swim 3 tides in one day and this print came from the last swim of the day. It was low tide and there was a glorious sunset. I wanted to create the atmospheric moment as we began our swim. Living on the western side of the UK sunset swims can be rather special.
Multiblock lino cut on Japanese Bamboo Select paper hand printed with caligo safewash inks. Image size approx 40x30
This is a reminder of my nephew’s visit to the aquarium and his absorption and fascination. I loved the light and colour of the tanks and fish and the feeling of floating movement.
Multiplate linocut on Fabriano paper with caligo Safewash inks. This is another print which came from the Aquarium visit. There was a tank of beautiful pulsating jellyfish- mesmeric but I have to admit I am very squeamish about jellyfish when I am swimming in the sea!
Life drawing is such a pleasure but it raises the issue of our identity and how we see ourselves and how people see us.
I played with colour and texture and use of a variable colour roll across the sky to get some depth.

Driving home one evening there were a load of clouds in the sky somehow looking like a herd and so this print was born!
My son kept fish for several years. I cleaned out the fish for most of that time!

The day I walked past this house was a glorious early spring day and I wanted to catch those colours and the mood- even the dog was hopeful!
On holiday and seeing this faithful lurcher watching us from a window was the basis for this print. I also saw this house on the holiday and somehow they seemed to go together. I so enjoyed carving this print and thinking about all the marks I could make.
Originally a commissioned print but it is a lovely image and beautiful fresh Spring colours.

I don't really train my dog at night but I do have an off white coat and a black dog which gave the image to me. This piece is a woodcut and quite large. The stars were the most important detail to get right in size at least.

Mad hobbies- well football is of course more than that and when the team has a black and white strip it is a no brainer for a linocut. Trying to make the boys recognisable was fun.

A small print with an intimate feel which I cut to test out 2 different printing presses at a workshop. At home, I hand print all my lino with a baren- and do not have access to a relief press.

I loved all the colours against the white but it was quite difficult to plan this print using as few pieces of lino as I could.

Inspired by a visit to a local botanical garden but also walking past the window display of a local florist- succulents are so on-trend I could not resist making this print!
Black and white linocut 50x 42cm on Fabriano paper
Another woodcut that was inspired by some local woods I went sketching in. This piece is the largest size I ever want to hand print as it is very hard to control paper of this size to accurately register the colours!

Self-portrait made during the lockdown. I wanted my hands to be prominent as at this time they are both a symbol of creativity and destruction in the face of Coronavirus

This little print was an exercise in printing light ink with some transparency in it,on top of dark ink in order to create a third colour or tone. I was very challenged by this idea.

Hi!
I am a printmaker and illustrator intrigued by people, our lives and the world we live in.
I want to make prints and collages about those whimsical moments, simple pleasures and the habits we have. I tell the stories about our lives- the things we do on a daily basis - mad hobbies, people, pets, picnics and, of course, food - after all I am the kitchen printmaker!
I went out to walk the lane in the full moon. It was about 10:30 and suddenly in the solitude, a fox shimmied into the lane and was silhouetted for a brief pause of time before gaining the other hedgerow.
